Error description
When importing records using the ClearQuest Eclipse client, the default ".log" path (Eg.: C:\<users>\<userid>) is not easy to be changed to a different path. It is necessary to make this ".log" path change/selection easier. Workaround: There is a bug in java (not ClearQuest) for the call System.getProperty("user.home"): http://bugs.java.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=4787931 The call should be retrieving the homepath or userprofile, but this is not what it does here because of this bug. If you go into the registry and change the value of: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ex plorer\Shell Folders\Desktop]" From C:\users\<userid> to a value like c:\temp\nonsense it will use the value c:\temp\ on the next time you start cqec. You have to have a directory c:\temp but not necessarily c:\temp\nonsense since the way this bug is functioning is going to strip 'nonsense' out of the equation anyway. When cqec starts again you will see the initial "welcome to Clearquest..." cqec screen - that's because that new reg value causes the C:\temp\.Rational (rcp configuration) to be recreated in the new location. If that doesn't happen then it didn't work. If it did work the next import will create the log in c:\temp.

Problem conclusion
A fix is available in ClearQuest 9.0.0.5 and 9.0.1.1 The path where the import logs are generated can now be changed by setting the CLEARQUEST_IMPORT_LOG_DIR environment variable. Just set the CLEARQUEST_IMPORT_LOG_DIR environment variable and restart the ClearQuest Eclipse client, and it will generate the import logs under the path you specified.
